Search and rescue operations in Ternopil completed: 33 killed, 6 missing after Russian attack – photos, video

Search and rescue operations in the city of Ternopil following the Russian strike on 19 November have concluded: 33 people were killed, and six remain missing.

Details: The operations lasted four days and concluded at 18:00 on 22 November.
The strike claimed 33 lives, including six children. A total of 94 people were injured, 18 of them children.
Six people are still considered missing, including one child.
A total of 46 people were rescued, including seven children. During the operations, rescue workers also found three pets (two cats and a parrot) and returned them to their owners.
The main search and rescue efforts in Ternopil were conducted at two locations. At one site, a high-rise residential building suffered significant damage, with some residents trapped under the rubble and blocked inside their apartments.
The search and rescue work involved State Emergency Service units from nine oblasts, search dog teams, heavy machinery, medical staff and psychologists.
Background:
- On the night of 18-19 November, Russia struck an industrial facility and two residential buildings in Ternopil's Soniachnyi district. The attack caused significant destruction and civilian casualties.
- The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that the apartment buildings in Ternopil were hit by Russian Kh-101 cruise missiles fired from strategic aircraft: six Tu-95MS (based at Olenya airfield) and four Tu-160MS (based at Engels and Ukrainka airfields). The launch areas were in Russia's Vologda and Astrakhan oblasts.
- As of 22 November, the confirmed death toll from the Russian strike on 19 November has risen to 33.
