Details: When asked whether the 28-point plan was a final proposal for Ukraine, the US president replied in the negative: "No, not my final offer."
"I would like to get the peace – It should have happened a long time ago. The Ukraine war with Russia should have never happened. If I were the president, it never would have happened. We are trying to get it ended. One way or the other, we have to get it ended," he added.
Background:
- Earlier, Donald Trump suggested that Ukraine would eventually "have to agree" to certain painful concessions to end the war.
- Before that, he gave Ukraine until 27 November to respond to the "peace plan" proposed by the American side.
- On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Ukrainian people, stating that Ukraine now faces a difficult choice and risks either losing its dignity or losing its key partner.
