Quote: "Today I can say that there is a good result for our air defence – Ukraine now has more Patriots. I want to thank Chancellor Merz, Germany and everyone who is helping us – our agreements have been fulfilled. More Patriots are now in Ukraine, and we are putting them to work."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine still needs more systems to protect critical infrastructure and cities across the country, and the government will continue working to obtain them.
Quote: "This effort involves not only political negotiations with governments and leaders but also engagement with manufacturers of all necessary air defence systems and missiles. There will be meetings on this next week. We have presented our partners with all calculations and possible options to ensure a sufficiently reliable air defence."
More details: Zelenskyy stressed that defending Ukraine from Russian attacks requires a multi-layered air defence system.
Quote: "This includes our military aviation, and there are decisions in place regarding Gripens and French aircraft, and we are working on the F-16s. Also air defence systems and their missiles, development of mobile fire teams, and of course, the current priority – interceptor drones. The number of interceptors for this year will match the state procurement target. It is important that the defence forces, along with all involved institutions, also scale up the number of trained drone operators – the corresponding system is already in place."
Background: Earlier on 2 November, Zelenskyy confirmed that agreements with Germany to strengthen Ukraine's air defence with Patriot systems had been fulfilled.
