Germany is set to expand cooperation with Ukraine and Israel in the field of protection against drones, Germany's Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has announced.

Details: Dobrindt said the Federal Police will set up a new unit dedicated solely to future drone defence.

Background:
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has demanded that German police be allowed to shoot down unidentified drones and announced that his federal state is already preparing a relevant law.
Late on 2 October, Munich airport suspended all flights due to the presence of an unidentified drone or drones.
The drones spotted over Munich had earlier been seen over the city's Erding air base.
