The Financial Times reported the information.A senior Ukrainian official who reviewed the proposal in its latest version stated that it did not call on Russia to leave the territories that, according to the plan, should become the eastern border of the demilitarized zone. Instead, the United States was insisting that Ukrainian forces should leave their positions in the Donetsk region.Initially, Trump's 28-point peace plan had included a proposal to create a "neutral demilitarized buffer zone" after the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas.Ukrainian officials who participated in the negotiations stated that the U.S. was insisting on creating a zone similar to the one that has divided North and South Korea since the armistice was signed between them over 72 years ago.At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy views a demilitarized zone as a path to a frozen conflict—a short-term pause that would give Moscow time to regroup before launching a new offensive.Ukraine submitted its updated response to the U.S. peace framework on Wednesday, as President Donald Trump intensified diplomatic efforts with European allies to bring an end to the nearly four-year war with Russia.
