Scott Lucas, a professor of American studies at University College Dublin, expressed this opinion on Espreso TV."I think that since 1945, this is now the most dangerous time for all of Europe. Donald Trump and many of his advisers are no longer such allies of Europe; they don't see that NATO serves their interests and don't want to expand the Alliance. What's important here is that Trump and his advisers want to destroy the European Union—that's exactly what their new security strategy is about," the professor noted.According to him, intentions to undermine European democratic systems are now evident from Trump's team, as they promote conspiracy theories that Europe will face the destruction of civilization because "white Europeans" will be opposed by "non-white Europeans," including refugees."This indicates nationalist views from Trump's team, including JD Vance and many young U.S. politicians who have now joined the current American president's administration. It's not only Denmark sounding the alarm; there's already talk that Europe cannot rely on the U.S., meaning NATO. European countries need to become self-sufficient and protect European culture in opposition to the U.S.," Lucas commented.
