Ternopil attack: Over 20 people still missing as rescue operations continue – video

Emergency workers are continuing to clear rubble at the site of a destroyed apartment block in Ternopil, as 20 people are still missing.

Details: Khorunzhyi said that as of the morning of 20 November, more than 20 people remain unaccounted for after the strike, while Zelenskyy put the figure at 22. Khorunzhyi added, citing early reports, that 24 apartments in the building hit by a Russian missile had been destroyed.
Latest reports indicate that the attack has killed 26 people, including 3 children. A total of 93 people have been injured, including 18 children. Emergency workers have rescued 46 people and worked throughout the night.
More than 700 sq m of debris have been cleared and 230 cubic metres of shattered structures have been removed.
Background:
- On the night of 18-19 November, Russia struck an industrial facility and two apartment blocks in the Soniachnyi district of the city of Ternopil. The attack caused significant destruction and civilian fatalities.
- The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that it was Russian Kh-101 cruise missiles fired from strategic aircraft that had hit the apartment blocks in the city of Ternopil. The missiles were launched from six Tu-95MS aircraft (based at Olenya airfield) and four Tu-160MS aircraft (based at the Engels and Ukrainka airfields). The launch areas were in Russia's Vologda and Astrakhan oblasts.
- As of 16:00, debris from one of the cruise missiles that hit a nine-storey building on 19 November had been found and identified. It was a Kh-101 missile manufactured in the fourth quarter of 2025.
