Trump administration may finalise Ukraine ceasefire deal by end of month – Politico

The White House is expressing optimistic hopes of agreeing a framework to end the Russo-Ukrainian war by the end of the month.

Details: Politico sources said that the potential plan agreed with Russia may be presented to Ukraine as a fait accompli.
The White House is on the verge of announcing a "major new peace agreement" with Russia which, officials claim, will finally bring an end to the three-year war with Ukraine.
A senior White House official said they expect all sides to agree on the framework for ending hostilities by the end of this month – and possibly "as soon as this week".
Earlier, Axios revealed details of a secret peace plan agreed directly between the White House and Moscow.
According to Axios, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff held three days of talks with Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev in Miami late last month, and a 28-point peace plan is now on the table.
On Tuesday evening, representatives of the Trump administration told Politico they are on the verge of a major breakthrough.
Quote from Politico: "This new peace plan has seemingly had no direct input from Ukraine, nor from America's allies in Europe. And we have no sense yet of the details, of what's been hammered out on the thorniest questions around Russia's seizure of vast swathes of Ukrainian territory, the kidnapping of tens of thousands of Ukrainian children or the security guarantees being offered to Ukraine in the aftermath."
Details: However, it is noted that "the mood inside the White House is bullish, and it seems the plan will be presented to Zelenskyy as a fait accomplis".
"What we are going to present [to Ukraine] is reasonable," a senior White House official told Politico.
The Trump administration believes that Zelenskyy, who is under pressure both on the battlefield and domestically (including over a corruption scandal), will be forced to accept what he is offered.
Background: On 19 November, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to hold talks in Türkiye with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where he will discuss a "just peace".
