Military observer Vasyl Pekhnio stated this on Espreso TV."The situation with the Russian advance in the Zaporizhzhia direction, specifically what happened in Huliaipole, was not a novelty. It wasn't a result of just a few days, for example, where Russia somehow broke through or something similar occurred. Instead, through their systematic actions, the Russians have now reached the outskirts of Huliaipole. The distance they are currently at allows them to effectively cut off the logistics of our settlement using their drones. Therefore, this has become somewhat of a media catastrophe, although it is actually very bad. This is because the Russians have captured 250 square kilometers in this direction over the last three months, precisely where they were moving, which is why I refer to a systematic deterioration of the situation. All our problems began with the fall of Vuhledar, followed by the rapid entry of Russians into Velyka Novosilka and its capture without proper management, without sufficient mining, unfortunately, the Russians somehow advanced in this section of the front," he noted.Vasyl Pekhnio emphasized that today the circumstances of the Russian advance are different and very dangerous."They have reached the point where they are still advancing today, but today the circumstances are somewhat different, and they are also very dangerous. I literally received several calls yesterday from soldiers in this direction. They report that the Russians are engaging in battles with our pilots. How? This means that for them, the priority is to target our UAV pilots, NRC pilots, and similar personnel. They have adopted this as a systematic approach, and, unfortunately, again, this is not something, I want to say, this is not in the context of demonization, these are the same flesh and blood people, but Rubicon, Rubicon created problems for us near Pokrovsk, gradually worsening logistics. Pokrovsk is a large agglomeration. Huliaipole is a much smaller agglomeration, in principle, but Rubicon and their unmanned units began to work systematically, well, they continue to work systematically against our pilots. And, unfortunately, our losses among UAV pilots are increasing in the Huliaipole area," he said. The military observer emphasized that there are practically no small arms battles in the Huliaipole area. The issue is with drones; it is necessary to target enemy UAV pilots."Therefore, the Russians have an advantage in this component near Huliaipole, and this directly translates into an advantage on the front line. Here it must be said that we need to target enemy pilots. How to do this is a very difficult question, because you cannot effectively work against drones with just drones, you cannot smoke out a pilot who, for example, is hiding somewhere in a basement exclusively with drones. This is a very complex story; sometimes complex and heavy means of destruction are needed, such as missiles and aviation. But we are still in such a psychological, so to speak, paradigm that it is a pity to spend, for example, aviation on a pilot. When the Russians do not spare an Iskander, for example, on some of our gatherings or formations at a training ground, then we spare, or sometimes we simply do not have them. And this is a serious problem, in fact. To destroy Russian soldiers, we need to fully realize that one pilot, well, a pair of pilots, a crew of pilots, can pose a threat to an entire battalion. And yes, unfortunately, we are currently observing this, including in Zaporizhzhia," added Vasyl Pekhnio.
