Bloomberg reported the information.UK Defence Secretary Luke Pollard said at the Defence Industry Forum in Kyiv that the project, called Octopus, is currently under negotiation and could be implemented in the coming months.“Very shortly we’ll be producing around 2,000 drones a month, deliberately shipping all of them to Ukraine so they can be used to intercept Russian drones,” he said.Initial production will be rolled out in the UK, Pollard added, but the scheme is designed to respond quickly to frontline needs.“UK is outstanding at R&D and advanced manufacture, so we can add something that our Ukrainian friends don’t have in this respect,” Pollard said. “We need to be fast and we need to be first.”He also noted that the UK plans other projects with Ukraine, including the production of gliders.“We’re starting with drones for obvious reasons,” he stressed. “But in general Ukraine is an essential partner for us in terms of creating the technologies we need to deter Russia and to re-arm Europe.”On October 11, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a statement of intent to cooperate on developing battlefield technologies under a new partnership called the LYRA program, including a project agreement on joint artillery production.
