During talks with US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has received signals that the United States is considering opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine.

Details: Zelenskyy said that he and Trump discussed in detail the state of the energy sector and opportunities to strengthen Ukraine's air defence. He said that Trump asked about the situation in Kyiv and other oblasts.

Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian energy sector has become a key topic of his international talks.

"We are working closely with our partners to ensure sufficient support. There will be more talks in the coming days. This concerns the equipment that we are stockpiling for the winter and are currently using in hromadas where it is needed. It also concerns the necessary funding. And, of course, air defence. Only air defence systems, when there are enough of them, can guarantee protection. We are working to ensure that there are missiles for the systems," Zelenskyy said. Quote: "The world sees what Russia is doing, how it is trying to take advantage of the fact that world leaders are focused on the possibility of ending the war in the Middle East. There is a good chance that the agreement will work. The more peace and security there is in one region, the more opportunities it gives to everyone in the world...

Unfortunately, Russia is a terrorist [state] that seeks any opportunity to strike harder. Especially when the world's attention is elsewhere, even when it is already obvious that they in Russia remain the only, literally the last source of full-scale war."

Details: Zelenskyy also said that following talks with foreign leaders on Saturday, he had given instructions to the military, the President's Office and the Foreign Ministry and was awaiting results.

"Following today's talks with leaders, I have already given the necessary instructions to our team – the military, the Office [of the President – ed.] and the Foreign Ministry. We are expecting results," he said.

Background: On 11 October, Zelenskyy spoke with Trump by phone. According to media reports, one of the topics of conversation was the possibility of Ukraine obtaining Tomahawk long-range missiles.
