This refers to the 19th sanctions package.The EU is also weighing a separate option of accelerating the termination date of contracts by amending the bloc’s so-called RePowerEU plan, which aims to end dependence on Russian energy, the sources said.This shift came just days after U.S. President Donald Trump urged the EU to do more to curb energy trade with Russia.The global gas market is expected to move into surplus in the second half of next year, reducing the risk that phasing out Russian gas could strain European supplies and trigger price spikes.
