Del Spiegel reported the information.Due to the threat from Russia, Denmark plans to purchase long-range precision weapons for the first time. On September 17, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that acquiring this weaponry represents a “paradigm shift in Denmark’s defense policy.”Russia will pose a security threat to Denmark and all of Europe for many years. According to Frederiksen, the acquisition of long-range precision weapons aims to create a “reliable deterrent.” The Danish military must be able to “strike targets at long distances and, for example, neutralize threats from enemy missiles.”Intelligence assessments indicate that there is currently no direct risk of a military attack on Denmark, the prime minister said. While Russia represents a real threat to NATO, Danes do not need to fear such an attack at this time.Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen stated that Denmark plans to acquire drones or missiles that some NATO allies already have or are purchasing. The ministry will now study which weapons best meet the country’s needs. Officials declined to provide further details, such as the type of weapons, timelines, or expected costs.On September 12, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said Russia's aggressive behavior is a threat to European security as a whole.
