Ukraine’s General Staff reported the information.Despite statements by the Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Russian forces have failed to gain control over any major Ukrainian city. Since the beginning of the year, the Russians have lost nearly 210,000 soldiers killed or wounded, over 2,100 armored vehicles, 1,201 tanks, 7,303 artillery systems, and 157 MLRS.According to Ukrainian military calculations, total Russian army losses since the start of 2025 have exceeded 291,000 personnel. The General Staff cited the mass awarding of over 120,000 Russian soldiers as evidence of the scale of their losses. It is noted that the Kremlin’s fake claims about creating so-called “safe zones” in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions are intended to cover up the failures of its offensive operations. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are actively operating in the Sumy region, having liberated Kindrativka and Andriivka and pushing Russian forces out of other border villages. The General Staff also emphasized that Russian claims of “precision strikes on military targets” and the “destruction of Ukraine’s missile industry” are propaganda fabrications. As evidence, they cited the consistent accurate strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on military targets deep inside Russia, as well as civilian casualties from Russian attacks. The strike on Kyiv on August 28 alone killed 25 people, including four children.“The final report by General Gerasimov is a typical example of Kremlin lies. The Ukrainian Defense Forces hold the front, destroy and exhaust the occupying forces, and no propaganda can hide the failure of the Russian campaign,” the General Staff concluded. On August 30, 2025, the head of the general staff of Russia's army, Valery Gerasimov, summarized the spring-summer campaign on the front in Ukraine and outlined plans for the autumn.
