Oleksii Buriachenko, PhD in Political Science and Executive Director of the International Association of Small Communities, stated this on Espreso TV.“The dates of Kellogg’s visit to Ukraine and Witkoff’s visit to Russia coincide because it is around these days that Trump is expected to make a decision on imposing sanctions. In other words, Trump is essentially sending Witkoff to Russia, to Putin, with a simple ultimatum: if there is no significant progress in the negotiation process, at least in achieving a ceasefire, then he will do what he promised—impose sanctions,” Buriachenko suggested.According to the political scientist, Kellogg’s visit to Kyiv is more related to reaching an agreement on strengthening Ukraine with American weapons funded by European money. Currently, both logistical and financial mechanisms are being developed—timelines, funding sources—to implement Trump’s plan to provide Ukraine with $10 billion worth of weapons.“I am deeply convinced that additional security threats must be neutralized if this sanctions package is indeed implemented by the U.S. together with the Europeans. After all, this will increasingly corner Putin like a rat. And the more you corner a rat, the tighter the noose around its neck, the more dangerous it becomes, and it will try to bite everyone nearby. Therefore, the situation will escalate one way or another. And I think we can already see this clearly in the nuclear rhetoric coming from both the U.S. and Russia,” Buriachenko emphasized.U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a significant increase in tariffs for India because the country buys and resells a huge amount of Russian oil.
