Politico reported the information.Kallas quoted intelligence reports from Germany and the Netherlands, saying that Moscow had used chemical weapons in Ukraine at least 9,000 times since February 24, 2022.“As the intelligence services are saying this is intensifying, I think it’s [Russia’s use of chemical weapons] of great, great concern,” Kallas said. “It shows that Russia wants to cause as much pain and suffering so that Ukraine would surrender. And, you know, it’s really … unbearable,” she said.In 1993, most countries, including Russia, signed an international convention banning the use, production, development, or stockpiling of chemical weapons. Russia is one of 65 countries that also ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention. The UK sanctions two Russian officials and a research institute for involvement in chemical weapons attacks on Ukraine.
