The Institute for the Study of War ISW has stated that the pace of the Russian offensive in Ukraine is steadily decreasing.
Russian forces advanced by only 143 square kilometres in March 2025, the lowest figure in the past five months.
Source ISW Деталі According to estimates by the UK Ministry of Defence MoD, the rate of Russian troop advancement has been steadily declining each month since November 2024.
Russian troops captured approximately 730 sq m of territory in November, 393 sq m in December, 326 sq m in January 2025, 195 sq m in February and only 143 sq m in March.
ISW has recorded similar trends based on analysis of geolocated footage and satellite data.
By their calculations, the Russian advance amounted to 627 sq m in November 2024, 569 sq m in December, 427 sq m in January, 354 sq m in February and 203 sq m in March.
