The UK government is considering possible options in the context of US Presidentelect Donald Trumps approach to Ukraine.
Source Darren Jones, Chief Secretary to the Treasury in an interview with Sky News European Pravda reports Details Jones assured that in view of Trumps victory in the US elections, the United Kingdom would not abandon its commitments to support Ukraine.
The minister added this was why they were offering Ukraine 3 billion a year, which, as he mentioned, was a difficult but right decision for them in the financial context of the UK.
The figure of 3 billion in support for Ukraine for 2024 was set by the previous Conservative government led by Rishi Sunak.
Jones said that the UK officials will be looking at and planning for many different scenarios of what they would do under any US administration to make sure that the UK is in the strongest possible position.
Background During the election campaign, Trump said that he would find a solution to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours, but did not explain how he would do it.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Trumps entourage is considering the idea of freezing the front line with a demilitarised zone and a 20year moratorium on Ukraines NATO membership to fulfil the presidentelects promise to end the war quickly in Ukraine.
