Details: Answering a question from journalists about the risks of cuts in international aid, Zelenskyy noted that the total amount of aid he is seeking to secure amounts to roughly US$90 billion for 2026-2027.
He recalled that part of the funds comes from European partners under around 30 bilateral agreements and stressed that it is fundamentally important for Ukraine that these amounts are not reduced.
Separately, he mentioned the possible use of frozen Russian assets or alternative financing mechanisms linked to these assets. "We are fighting for this and no one is giving up," the president summed up.
Background: The European Commission has proposed splitting the "reparations loan" into two strands of support for Ukraine: weapons production and procurement as well as budget support. Budget support will amount to €90 billion and will be provided over a period of two years.
