Details: The meeting in Paris will take place after a phone call on Wednesday between Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Ukraine, Germany, France and the United Kingdom will be represented at the meeting by their national security advisers, the news outlet notes, without specifying details or names. It is unknown whether US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also Trump's national security adviser, will be present.
Three weeks ago Rubio headed the US delegation at talks with Ukraine in Geneva, but since then negotiations have been conducted by Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.
Background:
- On Thursday President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States' "compromise vision" regarding control over Donbas, which is currently under Ukrainian control, is that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the territory of Donetsk Oblast and Russian troops do not enter it.
- Zelenskyy also reported that the US side has not put forward a strict deadline by which US President Donald Trump wants to see an agreement ready to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.
