Military expert Vladyslav Selezniov stated this on Espreso TV."Russia isn't just randomly seeking compromise; they're actively looking for diplomatic ways to control the urban area that includes Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, and Kostiantynivka. This is because it's clear to the Russian General Staff that overcoming our resistance there would take not just months, but years.Since 2014, significant defensive structures and fortifications have been built around these towns, which will certainly block any enemy advance. Furthermore, these areas contain large industrial zones and tall buildings, which would make it incredibly difficult for enemy forces and equipment to move forward," Selezniov stressed. The military expert added that the idea of Ukraine giving up these territories or creating a demilitarized zone is absurd. It's obvious that if the troops are pulled out, Russia will immediately take over the area."We've seen this many times: trusting the Russians is foolish. Between 2014 and 2022, we agreed to at least two dozen ceasefires of different sizes with the invaders, but each time the enemy intentionally broke them. Often, this happened just minutes after the ceasefire was announced. So, in the current situation, we shouldn't expect Russia to keep any promises they make to Trump. The only thing that can truly stop the Russian army is the power of Ukrainian weapons. Therefore, I believe that discussions about giving up territory or creating 'buffer' or 'sanitary' zones are still just talk, and it's unlikely we'll reach an agreement," Selezniov concluded.Ukraine submitted its updated response to the U.S. peace framework on Wednesday, as President Donald Trump intensified diplomatic efforts with European allies to bring an end to the nearly four-year war with Russia.
