Long-range drones operated by the Alpha Special Operations Centre of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) have struck the Filanovsky oil production platform, which belongs to Russia's Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

Details: The sources told Ukrainska Pravda that this is Ukraine's first strike on Russian oil infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.

"At least four hits on the offshore platform have been recorded. The attack has stopped the extraction of oil and gas from more than 20 wells serviced by the platform," the sources said.

The Filanovsky field is one of the largest discovered in the Russian Federation and in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tonnes of oil and 30 billion cubic metres of gas. The extracted products were exported via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, a source said.

Quote from an SSU source familiar with the matter: "The SSU is continuing successful special operations against Russia's oil and gas sector, steadily increasing their operational scope.

The explosions in the Caspian Sea are yet another reminder to the Russian Federation that all its companies working for the war effort are legitimate targets – wherever they may be."

Background: From the start of the full-scale invasion to late October, Ukraine had successfully struck 160 Russian oil extraction and oil refining facilities. In September and October alone, 20 such facilities were hit.
