Zelenskyy's top aide Yermak was to fly to US for talks with Trump's son-in-law and envoy Witkoff – Axios

Andrii Yermak, who has just been dismissed as head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, was due to travel to the US for negotiations on a "peace agreement".
Source: Axios, citing two Ukrainian officials, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The sources said Yermak resigned a day before "he was supposed to travel to Miami for talks with president Trump's team about the peace plan".
Yermak, along with several of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's advisers, was to hold negotiations with US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Axios reported.
Quote: "The Ukrainian officials said the goal was to finalise the understanding between the US and Ukraine before Witkoff and Kushner travel to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin." [N.B. Ukrainska Pravda does not recognise Putin as president – ed.]
Details: One Axios source said that Yermak's resignation "put the negotiations in flux" but would not change Ukraine's position on ending the war.
Background:
- On 28 November, Zelenskyy dismissed Yermak as head of the President's Office, following anti-corruption searches at his office.
- The European Commission has said it believes that the ongoing anti-corruption investigations in Ukraine, particularly searches targeting senior officials, demonstrate that Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies are functioning.
