Journalist Vitaly Portnikov expressed this opinion on Espreso TV."If European leaders are discussing the U.S.-proposed peace plan with Trump, I am convinced that the people he trusts most—like Macron, Starmer, and perhaps to a lesser degree, Merz—are telling him the plan is brilliant while also pointing out that some of its points are not as strong as others. In doing so, they are essentially forcing him to read the specific details, which prompts a negative reaction from him once he understands what he is actually proposing. The fundamental problem is that this man has no idea what he is doing as President of the United States."The journalist is convinced that the Ukrainian leadership should continue consultations with the Trump administration and confirm its readiness to discuss his peace plan."In this situation with the peace plan from the U.S. administration, Ukraine doesn't need to do anything at all, because Putin will do everything for them. He will calmly create the conditions under which this plan will simply crumble to dust; in fact, he is already doing it. Ukraine, on the other hand, should agree with Trump as much as possible, flatter him, and remember that they are dealing with someone who is not entirely mentally stable. They should talk about how brilliant the plan is and how ready they are to negotiate it further. During this time, Putin will simply trample Trump's efforts and do all the work for us," he emphasized. On November 23, in Geneva, Switzerland, the Ukrainian and American delegations discussed the 28 points of the so-called Witkoff-Dmitriev peace plan, drawn up with the participation of the Kremlin. At the same time, Europe proposed its own 28 points for a plan to end Russia's war with Ukraine: the full text of the proposal has been published. On November 24, the spokesman for the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Russian Federation had not received any information about the negotiations between Ukraine, Europe, and the U.S. in Geneva, and was also unaware of the new text for a war settlement based on the results of the meetings.Later, Trump expressed doubt about the possibility of achieving "great progress" in the Ukrainian-Russian negotiations. On November 24, the President's Office stated that the 28-point plan, in the form that everyone had seen, no longer exists. The next day, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, announced that Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to hold talks with President Trump "as soon as possible" to finalize the peace agreement. The meeting could take place on Thanksgiving, November 27.
