EU concerned that first draft of "peace plan" contained no commitments from Russia

There were no concessions or commitments from Russia in the first draft of the "peace plan" for Ukraine published by the media.
Source: Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, following an extraordinary video conference of EU foreign ministers on 26 November, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Kallas said that "we didn't see one single concession or obligation [from] the Russian side. I think in the long term, we need to see what are the things that Russia is obliged to do". She added that Russia could begin by fulfilling the international agreements it has already signed.
"There are at least 20 such international agreements where they have agreed not to attack anybody. And, you know, we could start from there. But I think it's important to keep the focus on the one who is doing the aggression," the EU's chief diplomat stressed.
She noted that the points of the draft "peace plan" published by the media were favourable to Russia.
"So, of course, if they favour Russia, then, you know, it's clear that it's also coming from that side," Kaja Kallas concluded.
Background:
- As European Pravda reported, on 25 November, US President Donald Trump said he had instructed special envoy Steve Witkoff and US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll to finalise the terms of the "peace deal" between Russia and Ukraine. Witkoff will travel to Moscow, and if the process reaches its final stage of preparation, Trump will meet with Putin and Zelenskyy.
- According to Trump, the biggest concession from Russia would be its agreement to stop hostilities and refrain from seizing new territory.
- The United States and Ukraine have differing views on three points of the "peace plan", including the idea that Ukraine should withdraw without a fight from the part of Donetsk Oblast not under Russian control.
