Details : According to CNN's sources, the Trump administration is rushing to finalise a new framework agreement to end the war in Ukraine, modelled on the Gaza agreement promoted by US President Donald Trump.
Two sources familiar with the matter said that the desire to restart negotiations has become a priority for Trump again in recent weeks — soon after the United States helped broker a ceasefire in Gaza.
Trump has made it clear that he wants to accelerate the timetable for ending the war in Ukraine. According to the two sources, some American officials have said that the administration wants Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement by the end of the year.
The war, now approaching its fourth year, has increased the US president's frustration. He often boasts of his deal-making abilities and believes he has not received sufficient recognition for other recent diplomatic successes, the sources note.
Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that the American side expected to receive Kyiv's consent to the deal by 27 November.
Background :
- On the night of 21 November, US media published the list of points from the new American "peace plan", sent to Ukraine for consideration. It includes numerous concessions to Russia.
- On 21 November, European leaders held an urgent call with Zelenskyy regarding the proposal.
