Details: Kilmeade asked Trump to clarify whether next Thursday was indeed the deadline by which Ukraine must accept Washington's "peace plan".
"I've had a lot of deadlines, but if things are working well, you tend to extend deadlines. But Thursday, we think, is an appropriate time," Trump replied.
The US president dismissed Kilmeade's reference to Ukraine's concerns over the "peace plan" – including the need to concede territory to Russia – arguing that "they're already losing ground".
"They [Ukraine and Russia – ed.] lost 25,000 people last month between the two countries. 25,000 people. It's out of control. It's a bloodbath," he added.
Background:
- On the night of 21 November, US media published a list of points from the new American "peace plan" sent to Ukraine for consideration. It includes numerous concessions to Russia.
- On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an address to the Ukrainian people, saying that Ukraine now faces a difficult choice and risks either losing its dignity or its key partner.
