Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Bloomberg.According to him, the countries have created a joint venture. The president also hopes for expanded cooperation.“American-Ukraine production, co-production,” he said. “I hope that in future we will have more.”However, the president did not specify which model of interceptor drones is in question and what their purpose is - to shoot down reconnaissance drones or attack drones.Creation of Ukrainian interceptor dronesSignificant advancements have been made in Ukrainian interceptor drone technology. One of the earliest developments was the Sting serial drone, first announced by the Wild Hornets group in October 2024. This drone is equipped with a thermal imaging camera and is notable for being the first Ukrainian anti-aircraft drone to successfully intercept an enemy Shahed at a high altitude, even above cloud cover.Building on these efforts, October 2025 saw the introduction of another Shahed interceptor, the Bagnet drone. This model boasts an increased operational ceiling, capable of engaging Russian drones at altitudes of up to 5 kilometers.Furthermore, in October of the same year, a collaborative American-Ukrainian project unveiled an AI-powered, self-guiding Shahed analogue with a range of 1,600 kilometers. This advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has already undergone testing in attacks against targets within the Russian Federation. Production of these UAVs is planned for Ukraine, the U.S., and Germany. In a related development, during an October 17 meeting at the White House, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed an exchange to U.S. leader Donald Trump: thousands of Ukrainian drones in return for authorization to use Tomahawk missiles.
