Details: Svyrydenko pointed out that the government has already taken initial steps: submitting requests for the dismissal of two ministers, imposing sanctions on individuals named in materials of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and rebooting the state-owned nuclear energy company Energoatom – removing the company's leadership and launching an audit.
Quote: "We are preparing a comprehensive decision regarding all state-owned companies, including those in the energy sector. We are conducting an audit and have instructed supervisory boards to review operations, especially procurement."
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk must step down following an investigation into corruption in the energy sector. He instructed Svyrydenko to ensure that they submit resignation letters. Later, Hrynchuk handed in her resignation.
- On 13 November, Zelenskyy enacted a decision by the National Security and Defence Council to impose sanctions against businessman Tymur Mindich – co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio and associate of the president – and businessman Oleksandr Tsukerman.
