Details: According to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), the paying agency will help ensure fair distribution of assistance across all categories of agricultural producers, increase trust in the state support system, and enable the efficient use of both budgetary resources and international aid intended for the restoration and development of the agricultural sector.
In addition, the law provides for a transparent and effective mechanism for granting state support.
"Establishing such an institution aligns with European standards and is a key element in harmonising Ukrainian legislation with EU law," the statement said.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill on establishing the paying agency in the agricultural sector on 8 October.
"The paying agency is the main institution for implementing the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. Subsidies will be channelled through it. Its creation was a major focus during the screening process under Chapter 11," said Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
Background: Zelenskyy reiterated on 23 October his call for EU countries to find a way to open accession negotiation clusters with Ukraine.
