Diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi said this on Espreso TV."Everything became clear from external information sources after the meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. The White House had to release audio and video commentary from Trump on the Russian-Ukrainian war as he was leaving South Korea. This shows that during the bilateral talks, the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war was not discussed in detail. It might have been mentioned, but no serious attention was paid to it. This is also evident from Xi Jinping’s opening remarks — he noted that U.S.–China relations affect not only ties between the two leaders but also the situation across continents, in the world, and in various regions," Bezsmertnyi explained. The diplomat stressed that Xi Jinping’s introductory statement suggests the Chinese leader is open to dialogue on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war, but that the topic itself was not discussed during this particular meeting."Moreover, Xi Jinping emphasized the need to find mechanisms within these relations that would allow issues in regions, continents, and globally to be resolved. Apparently, anticipating the question and constrained by time, Xi Jinping indirectly addressed it — he essentially acknowledged his readiness for dialogue, but the Russian-Ukrainian war was not discussed directly, and no proposals were voiced. The meeting was focused on bilateral U.S.–China relations and specifically on trade and economic ties," he added.Talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping took place in South Korea, where the two discussed trade issues between the world’s two largest economies. Ukraine was also mentioned briefly.
