He said this in an interview with La Reppubblica.Orbán noted that he will soon meet with Trump in Washington to discuss the American sanctions against Russia's Lukoil and Rosneft."We are thinking about how to build a sustainable system for my country's economy because Hungary is very dependent on Russian oil and gas. Without them, energy prices will rise sharply, which will lead to a deficit in our reserves," added the head of the Hungarian government. When asked by a journalist if he considers the new sanctions by the U.S. leader a mistake, Orbán said:"From the Hungarian point of view, yes. And that is why we will try to find a way out, especially for Hungary."At the same time, the politician stated that Europe "has no role" in settling Russia's war against Ukraine."We have given the Americans and the Russians the opportunity to resolve this war. Unfortunately, we have no role. Europe is completely out of the game," said the prime minister. On Wednesday, October 22, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions against two of the largest Russian oil companies—Rosneft and Lukoil—due to Moscow's refusal to end the war in Ukraine.Earlier, Orbán stated that Budapest is working on finding ways to bypass the American sanctions against Russian oil companies.
