Military expert Dmytro Sniehyrov, co-head of the Prava Sprava civil initiative, stated this on Espreso TV."According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, there are currently more than 200 personnel of the occupying country's army in Pokrovsk. Why are the Russian tactics different from the battles for Bakhmut? I recall the fierce battles for Bakhmut 2.5 years ago. Then, the fighting was literally for every house, every basement. They used a large amount of heavy armored vehicles and weaponry, leading to so-called 'meat assaults,' which resulted in the occupiers losing up to 90,000 personnel. Now, they are operating in small assault groups. Moreover, the fighting in Pokrovsk from the Ukrainian side is for key points, not for every house. Therefore, the actions of small assault groups allow for the creation of such breakthroughs, which are already widely known, namely the fighting near the railway station. Currently, the Russian forces are using small assault groups to try to take control of the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces directly within Pokrovsk, to cut off Ukrainian groups concentrated, in particular, in the territory of the so-called industrial zone, and to create a threat of operational encirclement," he noted. Dmytro Sniehyrov pointed out that the tactics of the Ukrainian military have changed."It is worth noting that the tactics and actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have also changed. Even with direct control over the Defense Forces' locations, our units demonstrate the ability for active defense. As an example, let's shift focus slightly to the battles in the Kostiantynivka direction near the Kleban-Byk reservoir. The invaders managed to create an operational encirclement of a Ukrainian group, effectively pinning them against the water. But the fighting has been going on for three months, even with a lack of logistics. Logistics are carried out by UAVs and small boats. This is indicative of the fact that even direct control over logistics, which the Russian army is trying so hard to establish, is not yet evidence that active attacks by our troops will cease. What am I getting at? Currently, the main efforts of the invaders are to pressure the positions of the Defense Forces in the Rodynske area," he explained. This is the main logistics route for the Defense Forces of Ukraine, so it is no coincidence that the Russians are conducting attacks with armored columns."With mechanized groups, up to the size of a tank battalion, which is more than 30 units of armored vehicles, in the direction of Hryshyne. They are trying to cut off the main logistical components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and thus create the preconditions for the operational encirclement of the Ukrainian group in both Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. We have analyzed Pokrovsk, as the fighting is already directly in the city center. But, dear Ukrainians, to say that the occupiers will capture the city in the short term is, at a minimum, a premature forecast. Therefore, all those reports that Putin gave the order to capture it by mid-November... Well, we have already seen this with the examples of Kyiv, which the occupiers planned to capture in three days. But the situation is extremely difficult. I repeat, let's be realists. At the same time, it is worth noting that there are also tactical successes of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk direction. In particular, the de-occupied settlements: Kucheriv Yar, Asokhetske, and the settlement of Zatyshok. Thus, based on the results of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Pokrovsk-Dobropillia direction, which is not yet over, 10 settlements have already been de-occupied. These are serious successes, you must agree. Plus, control has been established over approximately 200 square kilometers, where there is stable control by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. A similar area is territory that has been cleared of occupation but is not under the full control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The so-called 'gray zone'," added Dmytro Sniehyrov.
