Retired U.S. Army general and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Wesley Clark shared his opinions on Espreso TV.“I believe Russia intends to continue the war until it realizes it is losing, and only then will it pause. It will keep fighting in Ukraine and may try to open a second or even third front elsewhere in Europe. Its industrial base operates continuously, 24/7, ramping up weapons production. China’s technology, North Korean troops, and Iranian drones assist Russia. In this way, it is forming an alliance to strengthen its war against NATO. For a democratic government or leader, it is extremely difficult to mobilize national resources for a war in the ‘gray zone,’” Clark explained. The general also said the Kremlin seeks to mobilize its economy and prepare its population for war in Europe.“This is the main challenge of Russia’s strategy. Russia can mobilize resources thanks to its command-administrative economy, where there are no elections, democracy, or citizen voting rights. The population is misinformed and deceived, led to believe the country is fighting NATO, even though NATO does not seek war with Russia,” he added. On October 22, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte stated that the first several billion dollars’ worth of weapons, funded by partner countries, had already been sent from the U.S. to Ukraine.
