Russian opposition expert Alexander Morozov shared his opinions in an interview with Studio West host Anton Borkovsky on Espreso TV.“In my view, the war has reached a point where Europe must confront two scenarios. The Kremlin will not agree to a ceasefire but will act only to achieve Europe’s capitulation. If Europe capitulates, Kyiv will be in a very difficult position. If Trump pushes toward that, that is Putin’s calculation — to break resistance. There is no other scenario. Europe and the global support alliance would have to accept… though it is impossible to imagine now that, miraculously, the UK or France would say: ‘Yes, we recognize the results of territorial conquest following unprovoked aggression and the killing of hundreds of thousands and massive destruction. We accept it and will live with it.’ That will not happen,” the expert commented. He believes that if Europe does not capitulate, it is correct for Europe to prepare de facto for war in one form or another, either now or in one to three years.“Or a third scenario — the disappearance of Putin himself. Then, albeit conditionally and hypothetically, some options may emerge to end the war under a new group in Moscow, who would take responsibility for the future — there is no other way. For now, it is clear that planning must focus on the worst-case scenario. There will be no ceasefire. For 2026, Ukraine and the global support alliance must focus not just on strengthening defense but on tools that increase the prospects of a strategy to deepen cracks within the Russian economy and its ability to continue the war. This may shift Putin somewhat, but it is also possible that even this will not move him,” Morozov concluded. On October 23, European Council President António Costa said the European Union agreed to continue funding Ukraine for the next two years, including using frozen Russian assets.
