Diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi shared his opinions on Espreso TV.“Putin is hunting Europe. And he not only doesn’t listen, he has no intention of listening to what Europe says. Moreover, both for Putin and Trump, the European Union is a problem, to put it mildly. It’s no coincidence that they both nurture and support leaders like Orbán, Fico, and some other far-right or far-left populists, like Alternative for Germany, and so on. They all claim that the European Union is a problem,” he stated.Bezsmertnyi believes that, ultimately, the European Union, together with Ukraine, will be the force that buries the Russian Empire.“That’s already obvious and clear. And that’s why the Moscow Führer neither listens nor intends to respond; he sharpens his weapons to attack European countries. It’s important that Donald Trump understands this. But Trump is also playing this game. That’s why his maneuvers are so unpredictable, sometimes he helps, sometimes he doesn’t, sometimes he guarantees Europe’s security, sometimes he doesn’t, sometimes he leaves troops, sometimes he plans to withdraw them from Europe,” the diplomat emphasized.He considers this absurdity, due to its inconsistency and unpredictability, creates a nervous situation, including in European capitals.“Remember at least his words: ‘I will not object if Putin attacks those who don’t contribute.’ That’s how Trump was addressing NATO fund increases. In this regard, what’s happening resembles a game between two random partners whose interests sometimes align. In this situation, Europe is undoubtedly a reliable partner for Ukraine. It’s necessary to work with Europe, detail strategies, develop all areas, and help Europe understand the danger,” Bezsmertnyi added.The diplomat noted that Europeans now understand that they need Ukraine as much as Ukraine needs Europe.“From a security and defense perspective, they are currently equal allies in mutual support. It’s important that work continues on this and that problems, which are many, are addressed. I am convinced that Ukraine’s EU membership, the strengthening of European and Ukrainian defense capabilities, and Europe’s support for Ukraine will all grow. Hoping for Donald Trumps is just deceiving oneself,” he concluded.
