The Center for Countering Disinformation reported the information. In Russia, Telega is being promoted as an application that allows users to bypass call blocking. However, the Center for Countering Disinformation notes, citing IT specialists, that it operates on the infrastructure of VK and the state messenger MAX, and is controlled by the Kremlin. The report explains that through this fake Telegram, Russian authorities can censor channels, monitor correspondence, and collect users' personal data, including IP addresses, phone numbers, session times, and call metadata."A service API key for VK and a 'blacklist' function for channels, which can be activated remotely, were also found in the application's code. In other words, this is another tool for censorship and surveillance of citizens. In fact, the Russian state has found a way to deceptively penetrate its citizens' smartphones under the guise of 'bypassing censorship'," the Center adds.In September, Ukrainian MP Fedienko announced an online data leak affecting 20 million Ukrainians. The Ministry of Digital Transformation asserts that the file is a fake and the data does not originate from the Diia app.
