The head of the communications department of Ukraine's 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Danylo Melnykov, shared the information on Espreso TV.“Once a week, you can see a Ukrainian digest on social media showing Russian losses — not only personnel but also equipment. These figures are striking at first, because the Russian army’s attitude toward its troops is inhumane. When you watch drone footage of how Russian forces are deployed, it’s shocking at first — and then you just get used to it. Russia’s losses are massive in their attempts to seize positions,” Melnykov explained.According to him, the Russian tactics have not changed much over the past year — they still use small groups. To secure one point, Russian troops may use up to a company of soldiers: one group of eight goes — doesn’t make it — the next follows, and so on endlessly. This, he noted, creates heavy workloads for Ukrainian drone units.“Quite literally, Russian troops advance over the bodies of their own comrades. Those Russian soldiers who are lucky enough to be captured tell us that if they refuse to carry out orders, they are tortured or executed. Their commanders and barrier troops don’t allow them to retreat, even when they’re wounded — injuries aren’t considered a reason to leave a position,” Melnykov added. On October 19, the occupying Russian army lost 890 troops in the war against Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 2 Russian tanks, dozens of military vehicles and weapons.
