Shortly after, the Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the hit on the oil refinery in Saratov.According to Russian media, many explosions were heard in Saratov, and the local airport temporarily suspended operations.The monitoring channel Crimean Wind reported that, according to local residents, the oil refinery in the city was hit.Additionally, the governor of Saratov region, Roman Busargin, stated during the night that the Ministry of Defense had reported a UAV threat. However, several hours after the attack, he did not comment on its aftermath.The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that on the night of October 16, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Saratov oil refinery, noting that the facility is involved in supplying the Russian army.The Saratov refinery is one of the oldest oil-processing enterprises in Russia. According to the General Staff, as of 2023, its oil processing capacity was 4.8 million tons.On the morning of October 11, long-range drones from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) targeted the Bashneft-UNPZ oil refinery in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan.On October 15, unknown drones flew over Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan. Smoke was later seen near the Bashneft oil refinery.
