The Telegraph reported the information.According to the disclosed details of the strategy, if adopted, the proposal would impose tariffs of approximately 500% on certain categories of goods from China, with the proceeds directed toward supplying weapons and supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The president instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to present this plan to European partners ahead of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington. Together with European leaders, the U.S. is ready to coordinate further steps and consider joint pressure mechanisms on countries that supply resources to the Russian army.Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth assured NATO allies of the U.S.'s readiness to support Ukraine "in ways that only the U.S. can" if Moscow does not agree to peace negotiations. According to Bessent, the initiative aims to increase economic pressure on Russia, particularly by limiting its capabilities. The plan's authors indicate that the radical increase in tariffs is intended to force China and other intermediaries to reconsider their policy toward Russia, thereby strengthening the international community's position in demanding that Russia come to the negotiating table. Currently, the proposal remains a plan; its implementation requires approval from the U.S. Congress and coordination with trade partners. On Tuesday, October 14, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. According to the Prime Minister, they discussed cooperation for Europe's energy security. The parties also discussed sanctions against Russia.
