Russia claims Ukraine launched 251 drones in overnight attack

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on its Telegram channel.According to the ministry’s statement on Telegram, the drones targeted 16 regions across Russia, including the Moscow region. The ministry claimed that all the unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed before reaching their targets.The drones are alleged to have been spotted in the following regions:40 UAVs – over the territory of the Republic of Crimea;34 UAVs – over the territory of the Kursk region;30 UAVs – over the territory of the Belgorod region;20 UAVs – over the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region;17 UAVs – over the territory of the Voronezh region;11 UAVs – over the territory of the Krasnodar region;8 UAVs – over the territory of the Bryansk region;8 UAVs – over the territory of the Tula region;4 UAVs – over the territory of the Ryazan region;2 UAVs – over the territory of Vladimir region;2 UAVs – over the territory of Ivanovo region;2 UAVs – over the territory of Kaluga region;2 UAVs – over the territory of Tambov region;2 UAVs – over the territory of Oryol region;1 UAV – over the territory of the Lipetsk region;1 UAV – over the Moscow region;62 UAVs – over the Black Sea;5 UAVs – over the Sea of Azov.Previously, Russian authorities reported that the overnight attacks caused power outages in 24 settlements in the Belgorod region and ignited a fire at a thermal power plant in the Bryansk region after it was hit. The strike reportedly damaged the open distribution unit of the Klintsy TPP, which supplies electricity to the city of Klintsy and nearby areas.Explosions were also reported overnight in several settlements in temporarily occupied Crimea. Social media users claimed that a military facility near Yevpatoria was hit and that a fire broke out at an oil depot in Feodosia. Local residents said there was no gasoline available along the Dzhankoi–Simferopol route.From the evening of October 5 to the morning of October 6, eight Russian airports were temporarily closed, with authorities citing “flight-safety” measures.
