Volunteer and public figure Mykola Osichenko, former president of Mariupol Television (2019–2023), sharedthe information on Espreso TV.“Right now, Russia is building the largest military-patriotic center, Voin (Warrior), in Mariupol. This center is specifically for young people. The Russians openly say it is to prepare children for early military service. There are trenches, dugouts, and mock-up houses where children can practice combat operations in buildings. In other words, they are continuing full-scale militarization,” Osichenko said on Espreso TV.Despite Russian efforts to impose their programs, some children secretly continue studying online at Ukrainian schools, preparing to leave the occupied territories once they turn 18.“Additionally, in Mariupol, the Nakhimiv Naval School was completed and launched in 2024. Children are already studying there and will become Russian soldiers. But not everything is lost. Many children continue learning online in Ukrainian schools, secretly from neighbors, friends, and sometimes even from their parents. They understand that some adults have adopted pro-Russian positions. So, these children have developed their own strategy: they aim to survive until 18 and leave the occupied territories if they are not returned to Ukraine by that time,” Osichenko explained. On September 29, Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, reported that Russia is transferring new recruits to the Donetsk region after short training periods.
