Former CIA special operations chief Ralph Goff shared his opinions in an interview with Anton Borkovskyi, host of the Studio West program, on Espreso TV.Goff noted that Ukraine has demonstrated exceptional resilience and fortitude, standing up to a stronger enemy with far greater resources who also disregards its own losses — a quality that fundamentally distinguishes Ukraine from Russia. He suggested that Trump’s actions serve as a kind of “gift” to Europe, signaling that America may no longer be the undisputed leader and prompting Europeans to act more decisively and prepare independently for the future. Goff compared this to the unintended “gift” Putin gave to Ukraine through his full-scale invasion, which, despite its devastation, fostered a strong sense of national identity closely tied to Ukrainian resilience.Hoff added that, in a different way, Trump is providing Europe an opportunity to regain its footing. He cited the Polish prime minister’s remark that “500 million Europeans complain that 300 million Americans don’t want to defend 40 million Ukrainians from 140 million Russians,” noting the irony but also the underlying truth in the statement. On October 2, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had approved the provision of intelligence data to Ukraine for missile strikes deep into Russia.
