Ukrinform reports this with reference to German Defense Ministry spokesperson Mitko Müller.“The air force already defined operational zones last night. This means we now have two standby squadrons on position, performing missions around the clock. Both squadrons are also qualified for this mission or for patrol operations in Polish airspace,” Müller said.He emphasized that Berlin will continue to provide aerial refueling to support the patrols.According to the spokesperson, Germany currently has a Eurofighter contingent stationed in Romania on NATO’s eastern flank. A similar contingent was based in Poland near Warsaw for about a month, and in Latvia in 2024.“This year, a mobile radar system will also be deployed, which is routine. We already did this in 2024, since we have been supporting Baltic air policing since 2004, but now we have expanded this activity across the entire eastern flank,” Müller noted.Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction over Russian drones violating the Polish border, though he suggested it “might have been a mistake.” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk rejected that claim.German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, after Russian drones violated Polish airspace, stated that he sees a “constant threat” from Russia.
