Espreso correspondent Kateryna Halko reported the information. The Danish foreign minister said that any ceasefire or peace agreement clearly required reliable and proven security guarantees capable of deterring further Russian aggression. He added that the recent violation of Polish airspace underscored that Russia’s aggressive behavior posed a threat to European security as a whole, emphasizing that Ukrainians were not only fighting their own war for freedom but also on behalf of all Europeans. He noted that regarding peace talks, Russian leader Vladimir Putin was clearly trying to buy time and divert attention from the massive and brutal attacks on Ukraine. He added that Denmark wanted to increase the presence of Danish companies in Ukraine and, in close dialogue with the Ukrainian government, encourage more Ukrainian defense companies to unite and manufacture products in Denmark. He mentioned that they were already in talks with several Ukrainian companies, though he did not provide specific figures. The Danish Foreign Minister stressed the importance of maintaining tough sanctions against Russia. He said that Denmark must be as firm as possible and expressed support for any sanctions that could be imposed. He emphasized that such measures should be a comprehensive package with clear criteria targeting sanctions evasion, the shadow fleet, and the financial sector. Rasmussen noted that differences still existed between American, British, and European schemes, and these needed to be combined. He added that if real pressure on Putin was necessary, it had to be applied through close international cooperation. On September 12, the European Union extended sanctions against Russia for another six months for its war against Ukraine.
