Polish journalist Michal Przedlacki shared his opinions on the project “Europeans” with Lesya Vakulyuk on Espreso TV.“I haven't changed much. That’s because, unfortunately, I also saw Russia's shameful, brutal behavior in Chechnya. At the end of the Second Chechen War, I was in Grozny and saw what was left of the city, how people of Chechen nationality were repeatedly repressed and tortured. And there, in the Caucasus, but also on the way to Moscow, they were caught wherever they could be found. The war in Ukraine did not change my commitment to helping Ukrainians, which I have been involved in from the very beginning and continue to do today. This willingness to provide assistance has not changed in me. The war has not changed my view of how terribly cruel Russia is; it only reinforced it. But because I had the opportunity over the years to be close to Ukrainians — both those fighting on the front lines and civilians trying to survive or reach liberated territories — I have seen their strength and resilience,” he said.Michał Przedlacki highlighted that his closeness to the Ukrainian people strengthened his faith in humanity.“During the years I spent documenting the war, it was always firsthand — with my own eyes, my own camera. It wasn’t writing a novel about war, but documenting struggle. I have never met a people who so fiercely defend the idea of freedom, independence, and autonomy. I have great respect for the Chechens who fought against Russia and the Syrians who fought for freedom from Bashar al-Assad’s regime. But seeing the tremendous stubbornness, resistance, tenacity, and will to survive and win among Ukrainians only strengthened my belief in the power of the human spirit. Even when I witnessed difficult, sad moments — devastation among Ukrainian soldiers or a sense of hopelessness — these were brief stages, after which even greater strength returned. I think this experience influenced me and strengthened me as a person,” he noted.
