The information was published on the Joint Forces Group page.“In one of the key frontline sectors, the artillery reconnaissance unit of the Black Forest Brigade spotted and adjusted fire on a self-propelled launcher of Russia’s multifunctional medium-range surface-to-air missile system Buk-M2. This system is designed to shoot down aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other aerial targets — it was destroyed along with its ammunition,” the report said.The Russian system was destroyed by the 15th Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade Black Forest.It is worth noting that a Buk system shot down the Malaysian Boeing 777 near Donetsk, operating flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Independent investigators confirmed that it belonged to Russia’s 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade from Kursk.The 15th Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade Black ForestThe brigade carries the honorary name Chorny Lis (Black Forest) in honor of a historical area of Dnipro Ukraine, famous for its insurgents.On August 24, 1991, the 337th Rocket Artillery Brigade of the Soviet Army was subordinated to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.On August 20, 2003, the 15th Rocket Artillery Regiment was formed on the basis of the 337th Guards Artillery Brigade.In 2003, the combat training of the 15th Rocket Regiment was recognized as the best among military units of the Western Operational Command and awarded the Western Operational Command’s challenge pennant.From April 2014, the 15th Guards Rocket Artillery Regiment was involved in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Eastern Ukraine. In September 2022, the brigade participated in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Kharkiv counteroffensive.
