This was reported on Espreso TV by military expert and Defense Express editor-in-chief Oleh Katkov.“Regarding the ballistic missiles from Fire Point, it is likely about the weapons they presented at the exhibition in Poland. There, the company showed its plans not for new cruise missiles, but specifically for ballistic ones — the FP-7 and FP-9. The development and creation of the Flamingo missile took them more than nine months. As for the ballistic missile project, it is not yet clear at what stage it currently is. The company has only stated that work on development and production is ongoing,” Katkov explained. The expert noted that the declared range and warhead specifications of the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles are quite significant, while reports of a solid-fuel production plant under construction in Denmark highlight Fire Point’s serious ambitions.“Fire Point reported that the FP-9 missile will have a range of 800 km and a 600-kg warhead. These are quite strong specifications. And here it’s important to stress a crucial aspect: alongside the announcement, Fire Point also revealed plans to build a solid-fuel plant in Denmark. Solid fuel is critical for ballistic missiles and rocket boosters used in the early stages of Flamingo’s flight and for FP-1 drones,” Katkov added.Katkov also noted that the Flamingo missile’s fuselage is made using a technology typically applied in ballistic missile production. Moreover, Fire Point has already established a production cycle for cruise missile components that can also be used for ballistic missiles, which will speed up development of the FP-7 and FP-9.“Another important detail: the Flamingo’s fuselage is manufactured by winding fiberglass into a cocoon — a specific technology mainly used in ballistic missile production. If the company applies the same pragmatic approach it showed with the FP-1 drones and Flamingo missiles, then it is highly likely that some existing components will be adapted for ballistic production. This points to scalable mass production. It’s hard to say when everything will be ready, but I think we’ll learn about the ballistic missile from Fire Point once Russians feel its impact,” the expert concluded. What you need to know about Ukraine’s Flamingo missileThe Flamingo has a warhead weighing 1,150 kg and a flight range exceeding 3,000 km. It is resistant to Russian electronic warfare systems and has a maximum speed of 950 km/h.Less than nine months passed from development to combat deployment. According to Fire Point CEO and technical director Iryna Terekh, the missile is already being mass-produced, with plans to produce about 200 units per month. On August 21, 2025, Associated Press reported that current production rates stand at one missile per day, with output expected to increase further. On August 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Flamingo had passed successful tests, and mass production would begin early next year. He also stressed that the pace of the program depends directly on funding.
