The president made this statement following his meeting with Norway's Prime Minister.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. He noted that they discussed, among other things, cooperation in the energy sector.According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Norway is making one of the main contributions to guaranteeing Ukraine's energy security."Russia is trying to disrupt our preparation for winter – it strikes our energy infrastructure. Moreover, this concerns not only electricity generation and heat generation, but also the extraction of our natural gas. Therefore, we extremely value the assistance that Norway provides to Ukraine specifically for gas purchases. It directly helps protect people's lives and normal living conditions in our cities and communities," the Ukrainian president emphasized.He clarified that last winter at least one million Ukrainian families had heat thanks to Ukraine's cooperation with Norway."This year the challenges are also significant. There is already a decision by Norway regarding support for our gas purchases, and we very much count on Norway's next steps," Zelenskyy added.The Norwegian Prime Minister arrived in Kyiv. He announced that he would propose to parliament to allocate $8.5 billion in aid to Ukraine for 2026.
