The Russians still refuse to stop the killings, continue to invest in the war, and persist in pushing the idea of ‘exchanging’ Ukrainian territory for Ukrainian territory, with consequences that guarantee nothing but more favorable positions for Russia to resume the war. All our steps must bring us closer to a real end to the war, not its reconfiguration. To respond to Russia’s wish to prolong the war and gain more territorial spoils, we must act wisely and in coordination,” the president stressed.Zelenskyy thanked Niinistö for the support, noting that Ukraine and Finland, sharing Europe’s longest border with Russia, understand the threats better than anyone.
